- Club bowled over by generous donation from councillorsClub bowled over by generous donation from councillors The Photograph shows - Margaret Broom from the club with Cllr Karen Aldred, Cllr Nazia Rehman, Cllr Mark Aldred and Mavis Bent and Peter Jones from the club Members of the Atherton Botanical Gardens green team are bowled over after receiving a helping hand to buy much needed gardening machinery. The team, which maintain the clubs bowling green, were in desperate need of a vital piece of equipment for the maintenance of their bowling green, but Tyldesley Cllr Nazia Rehman, and Atherton and Atherleigh Cllr’s Mark and Karen Aldred raised the cash and presented the machine to the club this month. Mavis Bent, chairman of the bowling club said: “We would like to thank all three councillors for their continued support that allows the club to be a place for the community.”
